Ander Whitaker was supposed to be famous by now. At eighteen, he left Riverton Creek Regional Theater with a suitcase, a dream, and Sharon—his Juliet, his first love, and the girl he promised would be with him when the spotlight finally found him. Then her father dragged her home, Sharon begged Ander to come back, and Ander chose Hollywood instead. Fifteen years later, Ander is thirty-three, bruised by almost-fame, and back in Riverton Creek to direct and star in a play he co-wrote as his last shot at proving he was meant for something bigger. Unfortunately, the only actress who shows up with the talent, timing, and fire to play the female lead is Sharon. She takes the part. She also brings fifteen years of anger with her. As rehearsals turn into late nights, old wounds reopen, old chemistry steals the scene, and Ander starts wondering whether the dream he chased was ever the right one. When the show becomes a hit and an angel investor offers to take it to a prestigious off-Broadway theater, Ander finally gets the chance he always wanted. But this time, the spotlight comes with a choice. Chase the dream that cost him Sharon once… Or risk everything for the woman who was never supposed to still feel like home.
